I¡¯ve seen about a 75% decrease in traffic to all my lenses since Wednesday 4th July, but I¡¯ve also seen some of the more popular lenses keep their consistent rankings.

It¡¯ll be interesting to see whether the rankings come back or whether Google has applied a permanent penalty to Squidoo or whether you just need to put more effort into building backlinks to get the lenses ranking (this seems more probable).

It¡¯s not surprising really since 80% of the lenses on Squidoo are probably spam anyway & rank ridiculously well without any effort.

In the meantime, don¡¯t despair many people are already jumping onto Hubpages which also seems to be doing equally well in the SERPS

I have to admit, whilst in some areas I¡¯m pretty organised there¡¯s other that I¡¯m not. I¡¯ve been doing a lot of researching & fine tuning lately to streamline as much of my work as possible. There¡¯s lots & lots of things you can do to organise your Affiliate Marketing Campaigns & also your day in general.

The aim of this series of posts is to pass on some of the tricks I¡¯ve learned. So without further ado here¡¯s the first.
As an Affiliate, the single biggest thing that frustrates me & clutters up my desktop, is leaving notes everywhere. Whether it¡¯s in notepad, word or excel, saving webpages of interest or just jotting down random things.
That is until someone pointed me towards Evernote. This awesome free program allows you to keep all your notes in one space, categorised & also in order of date. A godsend for any Affiliate Marketer.

What would you say if I told you there¡¯s tens of thousands of Affiliate Programs out there that you can set up a campaign in Adwords for in 3 minutes & let it run, then come back 72 hours later & see if it¡¯s profitable or not?

What if you could set up 30 of these mini campaigns?

I like to call this technique Brand Leveraging. It¡¯s fairly easy & very straightforward, but there¡¯s two condition¡¯s that need to be met before you can start:

The merchant must not have a trademark on their Domain Name / Brand Name registered with Google.
The merchant can¡¯t be bidding on their own brand terms (unless you want to fight them for it).

You can find heaps of good merchants to use for this on Commission Junction & Clixgalore.

I¡¯ve come across an annoying problem lately using the DKI option in Adwords. Whilst I¡¯m a big fan of keeping Adgroups as specific as possible there¡¯s sometimes when using the Dynamic Keyword Insertion option really saves time.

However I¡¯ve recently been noticing that even though I¡¯ve set the DKI on the adgroup the default ad text is still appearing in the ¡
Having a single site in a particular affiliate space is a great way to test out the market, you can test plenty of variables like:

How difficult is is to rank for profitable keywords
Is it a high traffic niche?
Which merchants convert the best
How responsive mailing lists are

Once you find that magic formula what do you do next? Move onto the next niche, or build more?

We all know that finding a profitable niche is hard, there¡¯s no doubting that. But holding a position within that niche can become incredibly difficult if you don¡¯t have a network of sites to back you up.

Eli made a great post which discusses the need for a larger network of relevant websites to help you dominate the SERPS for particular keywords. The exact same principle can be put in place to help you totally dominate an entire niche & potentially take a larger share of the pie that you¡¯d be able to get with only one site whilst also covering your back from potential outrankings. Allowing you to sleep pretty at night knowing your competition has no chance.
